We fulfilled our dreams of owning a Bed and Breakfast by operating the Agate Cove Inn for seven years. We set our roots deep in Mendocino with its coastal activities, art galleries, theater, star-rated restaurants, B&B's and shops.

We sold the Inn in 1994 and started on a year long adventure, a trip through Europe in a small van.

We fell in love with Provence in the south of France: The people, the food and wine, the pottery, the linens. We reveled in the colors and scents of this sunny region with its deep blue skies, fields of purple lavender and yellow sunflowers. They were captured in the print of tablecloths, the country pottery and the fresh smells of the lavender sachets.

We could easily have settled in Provence or perhaps, Tuscany. Instead we decided to bring the best of these places home with us and opened a store in Mendocino and called it Sallie Mac. The store has been an enormous success from the day it opened in 1998. Now we're able to share our love of Provence and Tuscany with the many customers who have visited Sallie Mac since then.
